    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Canadian Tax, the Manager, Canadian Tax will oversee and be responsible for Canadian tax accounting, compliance and planning for Canadian subsidiaries of Nutrien Ltd. This role will prepare or oversee preparation of all aspects of income tax accounting, including preparation of budgets and forecasts, monthly and quarterly income tax accounting, year-end tax provision and deferred tax accounting. The position will review tax returns prepared by tax accountants and will be involved in preparation of complex areas of tax returns. This position will assist in answering queries and gathering information for financial statement and government auditors. This position will assist the Senior Manager, Canadian Tax to provide direction and leadership to Canadian tax professionals within the department to fulfill their responsibilities and develop their career.

     

    The Manager, Canadian Tax will collaborate with the Canadian, US and International Tax teams as well as other teams within the organization including Finance, Treasury, Legal and Operations; also required to liaise with external consultants and advisors.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax provisions and working papers as required, including budgeting and forecasting
    • Prepare or review Canadian income tax filings and oversee Canadian income tax payments
    • Research technical issues regarding corporate income tax matters
    • Support the Senior Manager, Canadian Tax on all federal or provincial audits, including gathering information, addressing incoming correspondence and drafting responses to Canada Revenue Agency or provincial audit queries
    • Leadership and supervision of three tax positions
    • Maintain knowledge with respect to technical tax issues and accounting standards
    • Compliance with company standards, policies, controls, and procedures pertaining to appropriate conduct for employees

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, etc.
    • CPA or other professional accounting designation
    • Completion of CPA Canada in-depth tax course
    • Minimum of seven years of income tax experience required
    • Experience in income tax accounting, one year minimum required
    • Experience in resource taxation, manufacturing, foreign affiliate issues and international tax planning, desired
