    Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Analyst performs payroll duties requiring analysis, exercise of judgement, and detailed knowledge of department procedures related to the work performed.

     

    The Payroll Analyst will liaise with other departments including HR, Finance, Corporate Payroll and employees as it relates to the payroll function.

     

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Support the end to end production of multiple payrolls.
    • Perform necessary checks and reconciliations to confirm accuracy and desired results.
    • Support and deliver Payroll reconciliations and reporting requirements: Quarterly and annual WCB reporting; ROE’s and other as required.
    • Support year end reconciliations, processing and reporting of T4’s
    • Performs other assigned tasks, like balancing vacation accrual, in a timely fashion with strong attention to detail showing status and outstanding issues and balances.
    • Applies professional payroll professional standards, including accurate and timely data setup and maintenance.
    • Applies government, Provincial/State regulations, and taxes to ensure compliance
    • Applies documented payroll processes to execute day-to-day work procedures.
    • Contributes to the deliverables for audit work requirements (external & client) as required.
    • Possesses awareness and correctly applies company policies, procedures, and internal payroll controls at all levels of required work.
    • Maintain a broad knowledge of company policies and benefit plans.
    • Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external stakeholders and ensures positives relationships are maintained.
    • Respond timely to employee and department inquiries.
    • Ability to make administrative and procedural recommendations and exercise judgment on sensitive issues in alignment with corporate policy/regulation.
    • Collaborate with other functional departments for process reviews and optimization.
    • Participate in continuous improvement activities, such as process documentation, identifying opportunities for improvement, and participating in problem solving.

    Required Professional Qualifications and Education

    • 3 - 5+ years’ experience producing full cycle, in the delivery of payroll in a large complex organization or a variety of payroll environments (3,000+ employees)
    • Canadian Payroll Association PCP certification and active membership with the Association is required.
    • Proficiency / Previous working experience with SAP payroll systems is an asset.
    • Advanced knowledge of payroll practices, methodologies and procedures required
    • Strongly proficient in Microsoft Excel is an asset
    • Strong analytical skills. Excellent communication skills. Strong customer-service orientation
