    Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards in Calgary, this is a full-time regular position which plays a key role in the communication, design and oversight of Nutrien’s base pay and incentive compensation programs across the globe, with primary focus in the US. This key position is part of our Total Rewards Center of Excellence.

    Opportunity:

    Nutrien requires a highly-skilled Compensation professional with expertise in a wide variety of compensation programs for all employee levels. As a key member of the Total Rewards team, the successful candidate will support the Business Partner community in the delivery of the compensation programs to leaders and employees, ensuring Nutrien’s workforce is positioned competitively and administered internally in an effective and equitable manner. This position provides subject matter expertise on wage rate, base pay, short and long-term incentives, as well as sales incentive plans for executive, staff and hourly employees.  Relationship building and communication skills are critical to the success of this role as this position will interface with and provide guidance to multiple stakeholders outside of the Total Rewards Center of Excellence such as:

    • HR Business Partners
    • HR Shared Service Centre Employees
    • Finance Specialists
    • Nutrien Business Leaders
    • Third-party consultants and data providers

    Key Tasks:

    • Provide guidance and expertise to HR Business Partners in their efforts to support the business in issues related to compensation.
    • Participate in and contribute to the design and development of compensation policies and programs, including communication and implementation processes.
    • Lead efforts to transfer knowledge on compensation programs and processes across the business through transparent discussion and effective listening.
    • Monitor regulatory changes and competitive practices through independent research and networking with external peers and bring forward recommendations for discussion.
    • Recommend survey participation and complete U.S. survey submissions.
    • Complete the annual competitive analysis of U.S. based positions and develop new program recommendations reflecting that analysis.
    • Participate in the preparation of materials for the Human Resources & Compensation Committee of the Board.
    • Provide subject-matter expertise to the HR Shared Service Center in the administration of the compensation framework within the HRIS (SAP).
    • Contribute to the corporate budgeting and accrual process for compensation related spending.

    • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively under tight timelines.
    • High level of computer proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related discipline required.
    • At least 15 years of broad human resources experience, with no less than 10 years in compensation program design and administration.
    • Demonstrated experience working with and influencing others to resolve complex and sensitive compensation challenges.
    • Experience successfully leading projects from concept through design, communication and systems implementation.
    • Experience in using software tools to extract, analyze and present data (experience with SAP HR preferred).
