    Key Tasks:

    • Ensure 100% compliance with all Federal, State and local environmental regulations including, but not limited to: Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Mining & Reclamation, CERCLA/SARA Hazardous Chemicals reporting, RCRA Wastes, and US Coast Guard.
    • Advises management of pending environmental regulations and their impact upon the manufacturing operations.

    • Support the Chemical Plants and Mining operations by obtaining all existing environmental permit renewals and modifications necessary for plant operations and for new plant expansions and Mine Continuation Permits & Environmental Impact Statements.
    • Actively participate in the Safety Steering Committee, Strategic ( long term) planning and annual budgets to address environmental costs, Spills Management Team as Qualified Individual, and Environmental Auditing.

      Establishes a high level of employee awareness with respects to environmental compliance through training to ensure that all levels within the organization contribute appropriately to continuing environmental compliance.

      Promote employee development and communications – both internal and external.

    • Reviews, maintains, and updates the White Springs Environmental Manual as needed.
    • Manage the Environmental Laboratory: ( sampling and analyses for: met data; air quality; surface water, groundwater, and wastewater quality; and solid & hazardous waste).

    • Manage the White Springs plant site Environmental Operations and ORC Certification for systems including: Ambient Air, Air Stack Sampling, Met Station, Groundwater withdrawals, Water Management System, operation & maintenance of the Potable Water Systems, Waste Water Treatment & land Application, Tank Farm Remedial Action Plan, Cooling Pond Remedial Action Plan, Elementary Neutralization Facility, and Waste Recycle Centers.

    Skills:

    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • The incumbent must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering and ten years of industrial experience with direct responsibility for environmental activities. Experience should include all related environmental disciplines, e.g., air, water, solid waste, hazardous waste, and land management. Individual must have demonstrated managerial skill and at least five years of experience directing activities of other technical personnel.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prefer incumbent to have experience with chemical processes and mining activities associated with the manufacture of Phosphoric Acid and Phosphate Fertilizers. An advance degree e.g. , M.S., is preferred and likewise a Professional Engineering license is desirable.
