    Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position supports a 24/7 operation and will provide guidance, awareness and expertise in the compliance of all safety and environmental regulatory matters associated with Americus Rainbow Operations.

    Key Tasks:

    • Maintaining compliance of environmental, safety, and governmental regulations by identifying and analyzing problems, then finalizing suggestions and recommendations for improvements (EMS, MMS);

    • Implementing and maintaining company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations;

    • Submitting reports required by company management, regulatory agencies and insurance companies, including, Tier II, SWP3, etc;

    • Obtaining appropriate applications and other mandated permits and contracts when required;

    • Maintaining all environmental health and safety programs at the Americus site and ensures all these are consistent with Agrium’s corporate EH&S philosophy;

    • Performing periodic environmental and safety inspection audits of the facility and initiating corrective action to reduce costs and injuries and provide a safe working environment;

    • Frequent liaison with Wholesale and other plant EH&S personnel to share information, knowledge and ideas on EH&S issues.   

    Skills: / Qualifications:

    • Possess an Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science, or Environmental Management with an emphasis in Occupational Safety and Process Safety Management, or related degree;

    • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) or equivalent, preferably within a manufacturing plant environment;

    • Have a working knowledge of regulatory laws (e.g., EPA, OSHA, etc.);

    • Possess problem solving, trouble-shooting, and diagnostic skills;

    • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;

    • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel and Power Point).  SAP experience is a plus.
