    Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Senior Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overall management and performance of the Granulation Shift Supervisors, Distribution, Bulk Shipping Supervisor, and Bag Shipping Supervisor.

     

    Key Tasks:

    • Direct and manage shift personnel in the optimization of plant operations: NPK production, distribution, product loading, warehouse, utilities, housekeeping, etc.

    • Lead and coach Shift Supervisors towards effective and successful performance.

    • Work with Granulation Supervisors, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Process Control, Process Safety, Safety, Lab, Environmental, Regulatory Compliance, Shipping, Accounting, and Materials Management personnel to achieve plant goals.

    • Lead and enforce safe work practices in all operating and plant activities by following the Americus Fertilizer Operation (AFO) – Tenets of Operation.
    • Provide supervision and direction to Shift Operations Supervisors to optimize plant production/efficiency and insure a safe working environment is present at all times.

    • Guide the Operations Shift Supervisors in startups and shutdowns.

    • Support plant safety and safety initiatives. (Tenets of Operation)

    • Understanding of AFO Emergency Plan, roles, and activation.

    • Contribution to and support of plant and operational related goals, including but not limited to plant availability and equipment reliability.

    • Constant improvement in leadership ability: participate in leadership and team training and other training/learning opportunities.

    • Lead and enforce proper administration of documentation and records: Operations logbook, log sheets, charts, MOC, PSSR, etc.

    • Assure necessary training and mentorship of shifts for job accountabilities, personal development, and succession management: operator progression, Agrium standards & policies, leadership skills, etc.

    • Demonstrate leadership and high-performance character (passion for job, success for AFO, acceptance and champion of change, etc.).

    • Work with Shift Supervisors to develop step-up shift operators in shift supervisor roles.

    • Develop Shift Supervisors to be prepared to take on senior operations supervisor role.

    Skills / Qualifications:

    • Bachelor Degree or combined education plus experience
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and SAP

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Excellent organizational skills

    • Must have good attendance record

    • Must have good safety record

    • Experience with hazard recognition and understand safety issues related plant operations

    • Working knowledge of OSHA PSM regulation

    • Ability to give direction and identify good learning opportunities for reports

    • Ability to lead and motivate others

    • Possess good decision-making skills and time management for shift.
