    Reporting to the Director, Safety & Health, Potash, the Safety Leadership Coach will provide operational support across Potash operations by developing highly effective routine, daily leader-employee interactions which engage and challenge employees to strive for continuous safety performance improvement.  The Safety Leadership Coach is responsible for supporting the development of leaders within Nutrien’s operations by delivering classroom workshops on safety leadership, and by providing in-field coaching on effective safety interactions. Additionally, the Safety Leadership Coach is responsible for facilitating appropriate coaching and training plans for supervisors, while sustaining high performance of all site leaders with respect to hazard awareness; specifically, in the effectiveness of the Hazard Identification, Mitigation, and Coaching process.  The Safety Leadership Coach models how to engage others in effective safety conversations, attends safety meetings, and presents information and feedback as required.

    Key Tasks:

    • Provide operational support across all Potash sites by
    • Facilitating classroom workshops on Safety Leadership
    • Coaching leaders with Nutrien’s operations on how to effectively engage others in safety
    • Engage and challenge employees to strive for continuous safety performance improvement.
    • Responsible for facilitating appropriate coaching and training plans for supervisors, while sustaining high performance of all site leaders with respect to hazard awareness.
    • Provide leadership and feedback for updating and improvements to the Hazard Identification, Mitigation, and Coaching process.
    • Attend safety meetings, and presents information and feedback as required
    • Assist in investigation of incidents and accidents

    Skills:

    • The ability to effectively facilitate learning in both a classroom, and one-on-one environment
    • Must have advanced coaching skills, and the ability to support the development of others
    • Must be self–motivated and disciplined requiring little to no direct supervision, ability to concurrently deal with multiple projects and meet deadlines
    • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
    • Knowledge of Canadian and US environmental, health and safety regulation

    Qualifications:

    • A minimum of 8-10 years of supervisory experience, preferably within the mining industry.
    • Knowledgeable about government regulations, as well as company policies and guidelines, with the ability to extract pertinent information from resource materials and incorporate into field practice.
    • A working knowledge of adult learning and instructional design, along with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain constructive working relationships with all departments and all levels of leadership.
    • The incumbent will be required to travel to Nutrien’s Potash Operations on a regular basis
