    Reporting to the Director, Project Management Office, the Electrical Technologist will provide technical support for projects undertaken by the PMO Electrical Project group, as well a support the Nitrogen facilities with design, repair and upgrade of electrical distribution equipment. 


    Located at the Fort Saskatchewan plant, this position will support the review, preparation and update of power system documentation including drawings, technical data, test and inspection data, electrical system models, relay and PLC settings and programming information. ***The position location may be flexible for the right candidate***


    Key Tasks:

    • Identify technical solutions and estimate cost and manpower requirements.
    •  Provide field support for power system information and data gathering. 
    • Provide field supervision of construction, engineering and testing contractors. 
    • Recommend design changes and equipment specifications for projects, repairs and upgrades to electrical distribution systems. 

       Provide field expertise to identify and resolve complex electrical problems.

    • Supervise field installation, inspections, testing and commissioning of new installations.
    • Perform detailed project design reviews for constructability and operability.
    • Work with centralized engineering and purchasing groups to ensure equipment and designs are consistent across whole organization.


    • Significant experience in specification and installation of electrical distribution equipment including transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, medium and low voltage cable systems (up to 25kV), substation equipment, protection relays, arc flash mitigation, control systems including SCADA, DCS and PLC’s. 
    • Significant electrical project management experience.  PMP certification is preferred.
    • Field construction management and troubleshooting experience is highly desired.
    • Proficiency with the following software is desirable: ETAP, SAP, AutoCAD, SharePoint.


    • A degree/diploma  in Electrical Engineering technology from a recognized institution is required
    • Journeyman Electrician will also be considered
    • PMP designation is considered an asset
    • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
    • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, sit for long periods of time, and perform many job duties remotely using phone and email.
