    As part of the Maintenance department, the DCS Technician will report to the Maintenance Superintendent and will work closely with the Electrical and Instrumentation group. The position is expected to execute work Safely and follow policies and procedures while troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing instrumentation and electrical systems, primarily focused on DCS related systems. The position will respond to plant repair and troubleshooting needs during normal work and off shift hours to support plant operation.

    Key Tasks:

    • Ownership of the process control system (Distributed Control System [DCS], Programmable Logic Controllers [PLCs] and associated devices; Variable Frequency Drives and communication networks) to ensure its availability and capability as the control platform and process operator interface.
    • Management of the DCS and PLC platform and associated infrastructure with regard to its maintenance and life-cycle management to ensure continued reliability.
    • Maintenance of the process information systems historian and connectivity to the DCS.
    • Utilizing DCS, PLC and communications technical expertise to provide day to day trouble-shooting to operations.
    • Assisting with design, implementation and management of improvement projects related to the DCS/PLC platform and network.
    • Troubleshoot, analyze, maintain and repair instrumentation and electrical systems, primarily focused on DCS but providing additional I&E support as needed.
    • Working within a team environment that includes Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Projects

    Skills:

    • Working knowledge of electronic and pneumatic controllers and valve positioners
    • Experience working with PLC’s

    • Working knowledge of all types of instrument and electrical test equipment
    • Experience with three phase motors, motor controls and Electrical distribution systems
    • Understanding of Electrical safe work Practices  

    • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Stong troubleshooting and analytical ability
    • Have a proficient understanding of rigging and power tool usage

    • Man lift and fork lift operation experience preferred
    • Strong user of MS office software including Word, Excel, Access
    • Ability to excel in a cross functional team environment

    Qualifications:

    • Two years education at a vocational/technical school in the electrical or instrumentation field, or 5+ years’ directly related experience.
    • Experience with DCS and PLCs is required, with preference given to individuals with Delta V expertise.
    • 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing plant or industrial environment.
