Nutrien’s IT group has established a Digital Transformation team to partner with our Potash Business Unit and a dedicated team of experts focused on realizing Nutrien’s Next Generation Potash goals. Led by the Sr. Manager, Digital Transformation, this new IT function is fully dedicated to realizing the goals of the Potash Business Unit through advanced and emerging technologies.

The Manager, Converged Technology is a new role as part of the Digital Transformation team empowered to build and establish a team of innovative digital experts for the Potash business unit. Focused on collaborating with various departments to define how the converging areas of IT and OT can be used to safely solve non-routine business problems. Working in an Agile environment, this team will tackle some of our most forward-looking business opportunities using techniques in Data Science such as machine learning and neural networks and advanced technologies like edge computing, robotics programming, and geospatial systems integration. This team will be highly collaborative and focused on working with a wide variety of experts to prioritize innovative ideas and focus on solving highest-value problems first, by developing technology proof-of-concepts to prove viability, before operationalizing solutions across our network of potash mines.

Reports to the Senior Manager, Digital Transformation.

What you will do:

• Partner with our Operations Insights team to ensure we are leveraging these aeras of technology on the highest strategic priorities
• Provide innovative thought leadership as part of the Next Generation Potash and IT teams
• Manage and be prepared to assist with the delivery of multiple converged technology initiatives through proof of concept to sustainment
• Develop a strong understanding of our systems and standards around both our information and operating technology landscapes
• Guide the development of capabilities related to the converged technology area
• Maintain knowledge of market innovations relating to these areas
• Create strategy and standards for this area in collaboration with key Nutrien teams (our sites, IT and ETC) and based on industry best practice where available
• Provide status update reports for the Senior Manager, Digital Transformation and our partners with recommendations, risks, and roadblocks
• Lead, coach, and mentor a new and growing team to maximize potential
• Spend time at our potash operations in Saskatchewan, learning the business of potash mining and refining and developing trusted relationships with the experts at our sites

What you will bring:

• 2+ Year Technical Diploma/Degree
• 5-8 years of experience working in a technology leadership role in an industrial setting
• Excitement and sense of possibility as we seek to challenge ourselves to think differently in this area
• Strong verbal and electronic communication skills – The Manager, Converged Technology will be in constant contact with internal employees, and at times contractors and vendors, and require these skills to provide prompt, effective service
• Passion for new technology advancements with a drive to use them to provide value and a track record of delivering results
• Technical knowledge relating to some of the areas in Converged Technology (robotics, data science, geospatial visualizations, AWS cloud services, edge computing, computer vision, robotic operating systems, sensor fusion, or AI/ML)
• The ability to work efficiently on their own, or as a member of a group
• Understanding of industrial control systems (including PLC’s) and network separation to better understand the context in which you will be working
• Valid driver’s license
