As a Senior Mine Engineer at Rocanville, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and sustainable extraction of potash resources. You will lead a team of engineers and collaborate with various departments as part of all stages of mining operations, from planning to execution. Your expertise in mine design, optimization, and strategic decision-making will contribute to safe mining, along with long-term growth and profitability of the mine.

 

This role is not available for remote work and is located at Rocanville.


What you will do:

 

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of engineers, technicians, and operators, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • This person will have management responsibilities of Nutrien employees, and possibly contractors, as assigned by their supervisor
  • Comply with all safety, regulatory, and environmental standards, and champion a strong safety culture throughout the organization
  • Portfolios of responsibility may include functions such as mine design, geotechnical support (geology, ground control and rock mechanics), ventilation design and monitoring, or other projects
  • The purpose of this role is to provide support to help the site achieve its long range mine plan, and ensure projects are designed safely and properly executed in alignment with the operational strategy for the mine

 

What you will bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering/Geological Engineering or a related field required; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan required
  • P. Eng required
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in mine engineering within the potash or similar underground mining industry (preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in mine planning and design software (e.g., MineSight, Vulcan, Deswik), as well as familiarity with CAD software (preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of potash mining techniques, equipment, and industry-specific challenges (preferred)
  • Sound understanding of geotechnical principles, rock mechanics, and ground control practices in underground mining operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Effective leadership and communication abilities, with the capability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams.
