Trainee Livestock Agent

Platinum Livestock & Real Estate (PLRE) is a significant industry participant in the South Australian Livestock marketplace and is a Joint Venture (JV) between Private Investors and Nutrien Ag Solutions. PLRE is an independent organization providing high quality services and products to our extensive customer & client base. Nutrien Ag Solutions, our JV partner, is the world’s largest provider of crop nutrients and inputs and is a leading, global presence in Agricultural products and services. 

From our South Australian base, PLRE (including our SAL business) is supported by and interacts with an extensive network, including a strong relationship with the Platinum Ag Services business, and the Nutrien network. Our Real Estate business creates a further connection with our Rural and Regional clients.

Platinum Livestock’s (including our SAL business) independent market position, market coverage and access to a broad cross section of livestock demand, combined with the various strengths of our team and our JV partners global market strength, create a tremendous opportunity for the right person to grow and develop to be an agent in the SA Livestock industry.

 

About the opportunity:

Reporting to a mentor livestock agent, and liaising with the General Manager, our program aims to prepare you for a career as a livestock agent within our organisation. The program, includes:​​​​​​

  • Accelerated learning opportunities working day to day with our experienced agents to kick start your journey, to a role as an agent, within the Livestock industry.

  • Involved across the entire PLRE business and related entities, working across various regions with different agents.

  • Exposure to, and opportunities to participate and learn Livestock skills – next generation stock and station agency skills, Auctions Plus, auctioneering, wool technical and market requirements and emerging industry technologies and programs.

  • Hands on opportunities working with clients and customers directly and in our various saleyard operations across SA.

  • Business skills –sales and client relationship building, communication, marketing and social media, exposure to finance products, livestock administration activities and requirements, and working as part of a team.

 

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have a

  • Passion for the livestock industry and agriculture in general
  • A strong desire to learn, and succeed in the livestock industry
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Exceptional client and customer experiences
  • Desire to build a career and business in livestock agenting

 In addition, you will have:

  • Completed Year 12 or equivalent.
  • Preferably completed or are actively involved in post-secondary school program or tertiary study (not a pre-requisite)
  • Minimum of at least 24 months working in ideally the Livestock Industry or otherwise Agricultural industry.
  • Current motor vehicle license
